I Heart Stop Motion - Matt The Electrician

Matt The Electrician is a musician in Austin.  Wondering how he got the name Matt The Electrician?  You can read his story here.  I really like his music.  I even backed his Kickstarter campaign to fund his latest record.

During that campaign Matt debuted a video for his song All I Know and I was so happy to see that it was a really cute crafty stop motion!  Even better news?  I found out his wife is one of the founders of Future Craft Collective and she helped him make this video!  Future Craft Collective is an organization that aims to build family connections through crafting and creativity.

Okay, back to the stop motion.  :-)

What do you think?   Want to hear some more?

I Heart Stop Motion - Against the Grain

I found a new stop motion animation today!  This one is a music video for a song called Against the Grain from Hudson.

I love this video because it's so colorful and a little bit crafty.  :-)

I'm spending my weekend making lots of plushies for a fun event I'm participating in in February.  More info to come soon!

What are you up to this weekend?

Road Trip

I have never been on a long road trip before but lately I have been thinking a lot about it.  It would be great to get some friends together and pick a place to drive to.  We wouldn't have to rush anywhere.  We could take our time and stop at different places along the way.  Nothing to worry about...just having fun.  I don't know when I'll ever have the time or money to do this but it's something I can daydream about until the time comes.  It's on my list of things to do some day.

For now I'll just have to go on adventures like this...

Have you ever taken a long road trip?  Where did you go?

I heart Stop Motion - Gulp

I had lots of blog posts planned for this week...

None of them happened.  I've been such a busy bee working on projects for Atown and since I hurt my back last weekend I've been working very slowly (aka I'm WAY behind!).  I haven't really had time for blogging.  This weekend I will have my regular Sanctuary Sneak Peek post on Saturday and I'm going to try something new on Sunday to see if I like it. I saw it on another blog and thought it could be interesting.  I'm hoping to find some time to go out and take pictures soon, too.  I miss it!

Today for my Friday video I have another awesome stop motion to share with you.  This one is the world's largest stop motion!  Want to know something even cooler?  The entire stop motion is shot on a cell phone!  They used a Nokia N8 for the entire thing.  They mounted the tiny phone onto a huge crane to film it.

I always love to see how people make their stop motion videos because I plan on making my own one of these days...  ;-)

Have you been taking any circle pictures for In Your Eyes?  The deadline is fast approaching.  Be sure to send your pictures to me at dreamingincraft@gmail.com by Monday, August 29th.  I got some really great pictures from Kate at Scientific Culture.  I can't wait for you to see them!

I Heart Stop Motion - Post-It Animation

Do you remember the stop motion I posted a long time ago called Deadline?  It was made using post-its and I love it!  This week I found an even more amazing post-it stop motion.  This one is the world's largest!  It's an animation that was made using 350,000 post-it notes.  It was a promotion for a shoe store in Brazil.

My favorite part about this animation is that the creators allowed people to write messages on the post-it notes.  I would love to read them all.  :-)

I Heart Stop Motion - Creative, Inc.

A lot of you may have read Craft, Inc.  It's a great guide to help someone starting their own handmade business.  I have it and have used it as a reference in my business adventures many times.  This week I learned that the author of Craft, inc. also wrote a book called Creative, Inc.  It's all about starting a creative business like graphic design or photography.  I'm interested to read it and see if it has any helpful information that is different from Craft, Inc.

The best part about finding this book...the stop motion video advertisement!  :-)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Today is the deadline for sending in pictures for In Your Eyes.  If you haven't had a chance to send one but you still want to you can send them tomorrow, too.  I will be writing the post tomorrow evening so there's still time.  :-)  Email pictures to dreamingincraft@gmail.com.
Coffee Time
Good morning!  How are you?  I didn't make it to my yoga class today but I do have lots of fun things planned so I'm not too sad.
Today I will:
  • finish one last sewing project before I list new items in the shop
  • list brand new items in the shop!!!
  • blog, blog, blog
  • buy craft supplies
  • put together fun giveaways for blogs I am sponsoring
  • start re-photographing items that are in the shop (I'm working on a portfolio and want to have amazing pictures...well better than I have)
  • Buy my dad's Father's Day present (Don't worry.  I know what I'm getting.  Just kind of waited til the last minute...oops.)
  • go see Hairspray at Zach Theatre with my mom (it was my Mother's Day present to her)
  • practice building chaturanga
  • sleep??  ;-)
But before I can do all of that...I think It's coffee time!
Oh!  Just a quick reminder...If you are participating in the In Your Eyes photo project don't forget to take a picture of something that makes your town special to you.  The deadline is June 27th.  Just email your pictures to dreamingincraft@gmail.com.
Have a great day!  Be sure to check back later.  I'll be posting my new items!
I Heart Stop Motion - Believer
Hello everyone.  I'm finally posting my Friday video blog.  I was afraid to post it yesterday after the Blogger mess.  One of my blog posts was taken down and it hasn't been returned yet so I'm a little sad about that.  It's not the end of the world so I'll move on to some new fun stuff.  :-)
This is an amazing paper sculpture stop motion called "Believer".  It's by Jen Stark.  I have actually shown you some of her work before on the blog.  This is so beautiful.  It must have taken her forever to make this.
I Heart Stop Motion - Mini Planners
It's Saturday and I actually had some time to relax and watch videos on Vimeo this morning.  I found this amazing stop motion so I wanted to share.  This is a commercial for Moleskin mini planners.  It's such a fun and creative idea.
Isn't is fun??  I would definitely be more organized if my planner did all that awesome stuff!  ;-)
Did you enter my giveaway at Punk Projects?  She announced the winner today!  Did you win?  Go check it out!
It has been forever since I posted an awesome stop motion video!  Way too long!  It's time to fix that.  Today I have a really cool photography themed stop motion animation to share with you.  I love it because it combines my love of stop motion with my love of photography into one amazing animation!
Happy Valentine's Day
I don't normally celebrate Valentine's Day but since I have this little blog I decided that this would  be a good year to start.  I wasn't sure what to do since I don't celebrate so I looked to the experts for advice...
Since I don't have a squirrel I had to settle for the next best thing...
I made a button heart embroidery hoop!
Happy Valentine's Day!
p.s.  Here's a little Valentine's Day Music Monday for you, too!  :-)
Coffee Break - Light Drawings
Back in September I wrote a Coffee Break post about my love of freezelight photography.  Yesterday ArtFire posted some awesome freezelight photography from Pablo Picasso on Twitter.  These photos were taken in 1949!  That's crazy!!!  I was so excited to see it!  I thought I would share a couple of them with you for today's coffee break.
Have a great day!
My Morning Soundtrack/I Heart Stop Motion
Yes, boy and girls.  You did read that right!  It's a music Monday/stop motion extravaganza!!!  Well, really it's just one song that happens to have a stop motion video, but it's still awesome!  :-)
Today's song is brought to you by Guster.  I love Guster!  I can't believe I haven't listened to them in so long.  I have been lucky enough to see them play a couple times.  If you haven't listened to their music before I recommend you do now.  It's not too late!  You will be happy you did.  :-)
This is a song called Satellite.  It is on their Ganging up on the Sun album from 2006.
See!  You want to hear more, don't you?
I Heart Stop Motion - Lost Things
Today was my last work day of the week.  I get a four day weekend!  My sister is in town for a few days visiting from Denver so I took Friday and Monday off work.  It is much needed.  It's been a crazy couple of weeks for me.  I am ready for a break.  Well, it's going to be a busy weekend but it will be very nice to not have to go to work for a few days.  I'm hoping to sneak in some crafty time.  I'm seriously missing it right now.
The best part of my weekend is that I get to go see Rent one last time at Zachary Scott Theatre!  I'm so excited!!!  It's a little bitter sweet.  I'm so happy I get to see the show again, but a little bummed it's the last time.  I'm a nerd!  :-)
Anyway,  I thought it would be nice to share a little stop motion wonderfulness with you before the busy weekend starts.
Lost Things
Written & Directed by Angela Kohler
Starring: Alison Sudol
Music: Sleepwalking by A Fine Frenzy
I love Alison Sudol's voice.  Her music is very lovely.  I love the part of the film where the black circle turns into a hole and goes through it.  It makes me think a little bit about Alice in Wonderland falling down the hole when she follows the White Rabbit.  I think my favorite part is when her hair turns into a tree.  I'm not sure why.  I just thought it looked really cool!
Okay, off to spend time with the family.  See you tomorrow.  I'm posting my 365 project...on time!  ;-)
I Heart Stop Motion - Candy
Happy Halloween!!!  I was trying to think of something fun to share with you to celebrate Halloween today.  I decided that since I love stop motion so much and my favorite thing about Halloween is the candy that the best way to celebrate would be to share some fun candy stop motion videos!!!
This is one of my favorite songs so it gets to be first!  :-)
Sour Patch Kids are my favorite non-chocolate candy so I had to include this one!  It's very cute!
I wasn't able to finish all of my Halloween projects but I do have one more plushie to share with you later today so be sure to check back and see what I made!  :-)
Happy Halloween!
Coffee Break - Freezelight
Hello coffee breakers!  Today I have something very fun to share with you.  This coffee break is all about freezelight!  Freezelight is a form of photography that uses different colored lights to create a picture.  It is so cool!
If you are interested in seeing more beautiful freezelight pictures, I recommend visiting Freezelight.RU's Flickr page.  There are so many amazing pictures there.
I couldn't write a post about freezelight without sharing a freezelight stop motion!  Look at this awesome video (also from Freezelight.RU).
Thanks for stopping by for your coffee break!
Have a lovely day!
