In Your Eyes - The Rainbow Connection

This month's In Your Eyes theme was The Rainbow Connection.  I asked you guys to take pictures of your favorite color/colors.  I am so happy that a lot of you participated this month.  It was really fun to see the different things you chose.

Maggie from Assorted Musings chose this beautiful photograph she took a a mural in Austin.

Alex from Creating Trouble sent in these beautiful pictures with lots of gorgeous colors.

Katie from Punk Projects sent in this picture of her favorite color...pink!

Thanks for sending your pictures, ladies!  I love all of them.  There are so many pretty colors to enjoy.  This project is so fun!

Be sure to check back tomorrow evening to see the theme for August!  :-)

I Heart Stop Motion - Creative, Inc.

A lot of you may have read Craft, Inc.  It's a great guide to help someone starting their own handmade business.  I have it and have used it as a reference in my business adventures many times.  This week I learned that the author of Craft, inc. also wrote a book called Creative, Inc.  It's all about starting a creative business like graphic design or photography.  I'm interested to read it and see if it has any helpful information that is different from Craft, Inc.

The best part about finding this book...the stop motion video advertisement!  :-)

Today is the deadline for sending in pictures for In Your Eyes.  If you haven't had a chance to send one but you still want to you can send them tomorrow, too.  I will be writing the post tomorrow evening so there's still time.  :-)  Email pictures to dreamingincraft@gmail.com.

Hello!  I'm just stopping by to tell you that Creating Trouble wrote the sweetest post about me on her blog today!  Come see!

I'm going to see Jack Burton Trio at Momo's again tonight!  I'm really looking forward to a fun night.  I pretty much work non-stop these days so I'm ready to relax.  Don't worry.  The dvr is set for Project Runway and Burn Notice.   ;-)

My New Philosophy

I have been so busy this week that I didn't even get to make an Etsy treasury!  Monday night I was sewing plushies all evening and yesterday I had to take my car in after work to get the AC fixed.  It has been miserable in this Texas heat without it.  I can't believe how draining it is just driving home from work.

I have to admit, I have been a little overwhelmed lately.  Lots of amazing things are happening with my blog and business but it's all going so fast.  Sometimes I have to stop and remind myself that I'm doing what I love and it will all be okay.

Paulie

I have a new plushie to share with you today!

Remember Polly?

Now I would like to introduce you to Paulie!

Paulie is a polaroid picture plushie that's all dressed up and ready for a night on the town with his cute little fabric bow tie.

This was a really fun plushie to make.  I loved learning how to make the bow tie.  I looked all over the internet for tutorials on how to make one but couldn't  really find what I was looking for so I ended up just figuring out a way to do it on my own.  I think it turned out great!  I can't wait to make more.  Don't be surprised if you see more additions to the polaroid picture plushie family soon.  :-)

Paulie is now available at Dreaming in Craft!

Jim Henson

I was browsing Etsy today like I do very often and I came across this post about Jim Henson.  It's about an exhibit the Smithsonian is having all about his amazing work.  Who doesn't love Jim Henson??  Sesame Street, The Muppets, Labyrinth, Saturday Night Live...Fraggle Rock!!!  And that's even everything!

Anyway, Jim Henson also made commercials in the 1960s and one of the videos was posted in the Etsy article.  I watched it, loved it and proceeded to watch a ton of other Jim Henson videos.

Here's one of his commercials.

This IBM training video is so funny!  Recognize anyone?  ;-)

Here's a video of Lily Tomlin and Scred on Saturday Night Live.  They make a cute couple.  Hehe!

Jim Henson was such a fun artist!  :-)

Remember my felt zipper pouches?

I have a brand new design to show you.

Pink Sky Felt Zipper Pouch

It's just a simple design with a pink Dr. Seuss sky and some fluffy little fleece clouds.  Anything's possible!  ;-)

I really love making these zipper pouches.  It's fun to come up with cute things to put on them.  I wonder what I'll make next.  Hmm...

Guess what!  This zipper pouch is now available at Dreaming in Craft!

Music Monday - Patty Griffin

Hi!  How was your Monday?  Mine was so strange!  I can't think of another word to describe it.  Tons of weird stuff happened all day.  Work was...I don't even know.  Just weird!  I'm not even going to waste time talking about it.  Then my phone decided to stop working so I skipped my fitness class to go get it fixed.  By the time it was too late to go to class my phone started working fine again.  Then my internet at home went out.  The list just goes on and on.

Luckily I made it through the day and somehow managed to stay pretty positive through all most of it.  ;-)  I thought it would be fitting to have a music monday song about a heavenly day to try to cancel out the not so heavenly day I had.

This is Patty Griffin singing Heavenly Day.

Happy Monday!

p.s.  Have you entered the Dreaming in Craft Giveaway yet?  You have until Saturday.  :-)

All Was Well

I'm going to see Harry Potter today!

I'm so excited to finally see the last movie but I'm a little sad that it's over.  I've spent so many years reading the books and watching the movies.  It's a little weird to think that there won't be any more to look forward to.

Have you seen the movie yet?

Fisheye for Free

I really want to have a fancy camera one day so that I can buy fun lenses like the fisheye lens.  Since I can't afford one right now I have to settle for the iPhone app version.  I did a search for free fisheye apps first (I always try free first).  I found an app called Fisheye for Free.  I used it on a few of the pictures I had on my phone.

It's pretty fun.  It's not the best but it'll work for playing around with my pictures for now.  Most of the pictures I used were taken with Hipstamatic to give them an even more fun look.  I will definitely be researching other apps that aren't free to see if there is anything that works better, but for now I'm happy with this fun little app.  I have a couple of fun ideas for it.  :-)

This is a video called #CIRCLEPIC.  It's a fun project that Bryan Brinkman did on Twitter a couple of years ago.  He asked his followers to tweet photos of circles and tag them with #circlepic.  Then he made this film out of the pictures.  I thought it was a fun idea so I sent in a couple of pictures.  Hehe!
It's going to be another busy weekend for me.  Lots of crafty fun.  Be sure to check back here because I have a fun surprise for you!  :-)

What are your plans for the weekend?

Try To Remember

Hello!  This post is just a quick reminder about the In Your Eyes photography project.  The deadline to email your pictures to me is Friday, July 29th.  The pictures will be up here on the blog and on the flickr page on Sunday, July 31st.  Email pictures to dreamingincraft@gmail.com.  Remember...the theme for this month is The Rainbow Connection.  Take pictures of your favorite color or colors.

Here's a picture to help get you inspired.

This is Shawn Colvin singing Try to Remember from the musical The Fantasticks.  It's such a beautiful song and I love the way she sang it. This is a recording from a show that was on Bravo in 2002 called Broadway's Best.  Did you see it?  ;-)

Enjoy!
