Music Monday - Robert Randolph & The Family Band

I was listening to KUT while I worked on my knitting during my lunch break today and they said that Robert Randolph and the Family Band is coming to Austin soon!  I'm so excited!  I probably won't get to go, but I can dream.  :-)  So, in honor of my dream of going to the show I chose Robert Randolph and the Family Band for music monday.

You didn't actually think I could post that song and not share Patty Griffin, too, did you??  ;-)

Hipstamatic 365 - Week Four

It's time for week four of the Hipstamatic 365!  I'm so loving this project.  It's so much easier than the other 365.  It's been a crazy week doing all of the last minutes things I have left before my first craft market but I was able to squeeze in some fun time and take some pictures.  :-)

Here is week four...

Wendy Colonna
I went to Momo's with some friends on Saturday to see Wendy Colonna and Dave Madden.  It was such a great show!  I can't wait to see both of them play again.

Stitch Lab
I had to go buy some more felt to finish up my First Thursday projects so I headed over to my favorite Austin store, Stitch Lab, on Sunday.  Isn't it cute??

The Bridge
I photographed this bridge for my365 Project, too.  It's sitting behind a church that's in my neighborhood and I think it looks really cute.  It looks even better as a Hipstamatic picture!

Seymour
Seymour got  a little makeover this week.  He was the very first plushie I ever designed and made and I have improved my skills a little bit since then so he got an upgrade!  I think he turned out pretty cute!  :-)

Giveaway
I won this pretty picture from Curious Key in one of her giveaways.  I have it hanging up by my sewing machine.  :-)

Raby's Roots
This picture was taken outside of a shop in Buda called Raby's Roots.  They have so many wonderful things there.  This is just the little gated area out front.

The Highball
I wasn't actually at The Highball on Friday.  I met some friends at Austin Java and stopped on my way home to take this picture.  I really love the lettering on this sign.

365 Project - Week Thirty-Nine

Hello! I am super late posting this week's 365 pictures. It has been a crazy week. I decided to wait until Saturday to post this because I met up with some friends on Friday to talk about First Thursday and Etsy stuff. Saturday ended up being very, very busy! I went to get a new phone (YAY!) and then I ran around all day looking for last minute things I need for First Thursday. I'll be doing some more running around tomorro but then I hope to be finished and be able to stay on top of my bloggy stuff, too. :-)

Anyway, here is week thirty-nine...

Day 267
I went to see Wendy Colonna and Dave Madden play at Momo's on Saturday.  I had so much fun!  The music was great, too!  :-)

Day 268
Got stuck waiting for a train when I went to buy some felt at Stitch Lab on Sunday afternoon.  Of course the first thing I thought of when I heard it coming was taking pictures of it.  ;-)

Day 269
I wasn't sure what I wanted to take a picture of on Monday so I walked around my neighborhood to find something.  I thought the sunset looked so pretty through these trees.

Day 270
This is what the sky looked like when I was driving to work on Tuesday.  I wish I could stop and take pictures of the sunrise every day.  It is so amazing!  I love these colors!!

Day 271
This little bird was checking his mail when I was on Wednesday.  He just sat on the mailbox forever!  Once I got out of  the car he  jumped over to this fence and posed for some pictures before he got bored and flew away.

Day 272
This bicycle flower pot is sitting in front of Raby's Roots in Buda.  I love the store front there.  There are so many pretty things out there.

Day 273
This is what my drive home from work looks like.  There are hardly any cars on the road.  I wish I could say the same for my drive to work.  EEKS!!!  It's very different!

First Thursday Countdown

Oh my gosh!  Only one more week til the big day!  EEKS!!!!

Next week I will show you pictures of how I plan to display things in my booth.

Plushies
I'm taking Seymour, Pierre and Rio with me this time.  I hope to have more time to design some new plushies now that I have an inventory built up to take with me.  I will just add new items as I make them.

Rio is my Charity: Water plushie.  I will donate the money I make from this plushie directly to Charity: Water.  :-)

Sadly I did not finish Pierre in time to show you a picture.  He's only about halfway done right now.  I will have to show you a picture next week.

Felt Flower Hair Clips
This is one of the new things I made specifically for First Thursday.  They are so simple and cute!  I hope they sell so I can make more.  I think I'll try different shapes and sizes on the next batch, too.

Felt Flower Ponytail Holders
These are basically the same as the hair clips.  I just put the flowers on ponytail holders this time.  I just thought some people might prefer ponytail holders to clips so I wanted to give them options.

Fabric Button Necklaces
Fabric buttons are my new favorite thing to make.  I had to find something else to make to go along with the rings just so I could make more!  I'm thinking about trying earrings with smaller buttons next, but I'm still not sure yet.  Something to look forward to.  :-)

Your Fears Erased

Hmmm...maybe there really is something about writing down your fears and actually seeing them that makes the seem less scary.  Might need to try it.  I wonder if there's a wall that big!  ;-)

If you give fear your power then it's fear that you will serve. Don't you let your fear ecplise the love that you deserve.

Music Monday - Wendy Colonna

On Saturday I went to see Dave Madden play at Momo's.  He was fantastic, of course!

Before his show he played with Wendy Colonna (she sang with him during his show, too).

I had heard a couple of Wendy's songs before and really liked them but hadn't really learned much else about her music.  That was until Saturday.  She was great!  I love her voice!  She put on a great show, too.  The musicians she plays with are amazingly talented, too.  When I heard that Papa Mali helped produce her record I was not surprised at all.  You can definitely tell that they are both from Lousiana when you listen to their music.

Hipstamatic 365 - Week Three

I can't believe it's already week three of this project!  I'm loving my Hipstamatic 365 so much!  With all the projects I have going on right now (365 Project, blog, First Thursday preparation, Etsy preparation, Knitted Wonderland project...) it's nice to know that I don't have to stress about this one project.  Even if I get to the end of the day and don't have anything spectacular to photograph I know it will still look amazing because this app is awesome!  :-)

Here's week three!

The Black Out

We had a girlie day last Saturday for my friend Maja.  It was so fun.  First we had lunch at Shady Grove and then we stopped at Gourdough's to split a giant donut before we stopped at Hobby Lobby.  The perfect day!  This donut was so big!!  I'm glad there were three of us there to eat it.  It was a giant donut covered in fudge with chocolate chips and chocolate covered brownie bites on top.  It was heavenly!  I could never eat a whole one by myself...or could I?  Might have to try that out one day.  From now on I don't want birthday cake.  I want a Black Out!  :-)

City of Austin Power Plant

I went to buy some new running shoes at RunTex on Sunday so I walked over to take a picture of the  City of Austin Power Plant while I was there.

Africa Bag

My friend Nicole took a trip to Africa over the summer and she brought this amazing bag back for me.  I love it!  I'm using it for my knitting project right now.  :-)

Downtown Sunset

I had to exchange my running shoes on Tuesday so I decided to walk over to the trail and take a couple of pictures while I was there.  You can't see it very well here, but that white circle by the Frost building is the moon!  It looked huge this week!

Full Moon

I had to try out my running shoes at the high school track in case I needed to exchange them again.  They shut down the track when I was only halfway done with my run!  Annoyed!!  Oh well.  Guess I would have missed this cool picture of the moon if they hadn't kicked me out.  :-)

Windmill

I never knew there were so many windmills in Buda until I started my 365 Project.  This one is just a block from my house.  I walked over there on Thursday and took a couple of pictures.  It was so cold!!!

Friday Night Knitting

My allergies have been bothing me so much this week.  I've been having a little trouble concentrating on my craft projects.  But, since I have so much going on with so little time to finish it I decided I should at least try to get some knitting done on my Knitted Wonderland project before my medicine kicked in and made me all loopy.  :-)

Felt Flower Hair Accessories

I have been wanting to make felt hair accessories for a very long time now.  It was actually one of the first things I wanted to do when I started this blog, but other projects kept getting in the way.  When I decided to open up my Etsy shop and start selling at craft fairs I thought this would be the perfect thing to make.  They are small and simple so I could make a bunch at a time and they are easy to take with me to craft fairs.

I did make another hair clip a few months ago but I wanted to try something completely new.  I looked all over the internet for flower patterns I liked but couldn't really find just the right thing.  I ended up taking things I liked from a few different tutorials and coming up with my own idea.

I love making these!  They are so easy and it only takes about 15 minutes to make one.  It makes me feel really accomplished.  :-)  I can't wait to try different sizes and flower shapes next.

Okay, enough talking about them.  Let's see them!

These are the clips I made.

and these are the ponytail holders I made.

365 Project - Week Thirty-Eight

This seemed to be the week of sunrises and sunsets for me. It wasn't on purpose.  I just couldn't stop taking pictures of the moon!  Did you see it?  It was so amazing!!!  I snuck in some fun Austin places, too.  :-)

Day 260
We had a girlie day on Saturday!  First we went to lunch at Shady Grove and then we stopped at Gourdough's to eat the yummiest and biggest donut I have ever had.  It's called the Blackout.  It's a huge donut covered in fudge with chocolate chips and chocolate covered brownie bites on top.  Did you just blackout??  It was amazing!  Good thing there were three of us there to eat it.  :-)

Day 261
I went to take a picture of another piece of graffiti in Austin this weekend.  I was really lucky that a train was going by when I went to take pictures.

Day 262
The moon was amazing this week!  My camera wouldn't take good pictures of it during the day but it was okay because it was pretty amazing during the day, too.

Day 263
I went to take pictures at Town Lake on Tuesday since I had to run errands int eh area.  The moon looked so amazing in between the buildings at sunset!

Day 264
I had to try out my new running shoes on a track in case I needed to exchange them.  I went to my old high school to try them out on Wednesday.  This weird tower thing that has no purpose was built when I was still a student there.  I thought it looked pretty cool standing under it.  It made a cool pattern.  So, I took a picture.

Day 265
On Thursday I wasn't sure what I wanted to take a picture of so I walked down Main Street in Buda to see what I could find.  I saw this pretty flower at the nursery down the street from my house.

Day 266
This is another picture of the amazing moon.  This time I took it at sunrise.  I wish I could have gotten more of the beautiful sky in the picture, but I think it's pretty beautiful all by itself.

First Thursday Countdown

It's Thursday which means the countdown to the big day continues!  This week I have some of my very favorite items to share.  :-)

Fabric Button Rings

These are my favorite!!  If I could just make these all day every day I would.  They are so cute and fun!  I made two sizes.  I know some people prefer smaller rings and other people like to go crazy and wear big rings.  I may even make a larger size for the next market.  What do you think?

I had a few extra buttons so I made some more.

Puffy Picture

I'm only taking the turtle this time.  If they sell I will make some more ladybugs and maybe try some new ideas, too.

Cell Phone Cases

I have made a few of these before.  I made a couple for my mom to give friends as gifts.  Then I made one for her for Christmas and I made the Longhorn case for my sister for Christmas, too.  I figured I should probably at least make a couple to take with me.

I'm working on one more cell phone case but it's only about halfway done.  I'll have to show you that one next Thursday, I guess.  :-)

I can't believe it's only two weeks away!!!

Art-o-Mat

I found this website yesterday and got really excited.  I had to share it with you!  Have you heard of Art-o-Mat?  A group called Artists in Cellphane got a bunch of retired cigarette vending machines and turned them into art vending machines!  How amazing is this idea??

People can put $5 into the machine and they get a little piece of art.  There are Art-o-Mats all over the world.  There is even one in Austin!  I want to go see it and take a picture for my project.  I might have to get a little piece of art while I'm there, too!

The machines alone are pieces of art that I would love to see.

I'm thinking about trying to submit a project in the spring to see if I can get accepted.  I was going to make ACEOs but now I think I want to try something completely new and special just for Art-o-Mat.  I probably won't be accepted and if I do it won't be a  big money maker, but it sounds like a really fun project to be part of and I could share my work with a whole new group of people.  I'm going to keep my ideas a secret because I still haven't figured it all out, but I will be sure to tell you when I'm ready to submit something.  :-)
