Happy Dance

Back in September I wrote a blog about Madga Sayeg and Knitta, Please.  I love her work.  She turns normal, everyday things into works of art by covering them with knitting.

A few months ago Velma and I went to a meeting to try to get a spot working on Magda's ACL Festival piece but neither of us were chosen.

This past Saturday there was an informational meeting for Magda's next big project in Austin.  I thought we were just going to hear about the project and let her know we were interested like last time.  Nope.  This time it was a meeting to get us started on the project!  We get to work on this one!  I'm so excited!!!

I'm not going to lie.  I'm not really a knitter.  I love to sew.  I know really basic knitting but that's about it.  I am such a fan of Magda's work that I just couldn't pass up this once in a lifetime experience.

I don't want to give away too much information about the project, but I will tell you that this is my part of the project.  :-)

I was feeling a little overwhelmed at first thinking about covering that entire tree by myself when I don't really know what I'm doing.  So I decided to see if some experienced knitters would like to join in the fun.  My mom is going to work on part of the project and so is Bridget from Love Peace Family!  I'm really excited to work with them.  I'm sure I will learn a lot about knitting from them.  Who knows?  This might even inspire me to branch out and try some new knitting projects.  :-)

We should all get together and knit some time! I'm hoping to help out with the project, too :)

Hi Baily! Thanks so much for reading my blog. I'm glad you like it. I went over to your blog and I already know I'm going to love it. I can't wait to read more. :)

Austin is pretty much my dream city, too. I feel very lucky to get to live here. Hopefully you will get to one day, too. Have you ever visited?
