It's Music Monday time! Today we look at three versions of I Put a Spell on You. There are so many more, but we'll stick with these three for now.
Let my start by saying that I love She & Him! Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward make such a great team. And I'm such a fan of Zooey Deschanel. Is there anything she can't do?? Answer: No! She's amazing!! She has the most amazing voice, she's a great actress, her style is better than anyone. She can do no wrong. Love, love, love her!
Okay, back to the song. She & Him were on Conan last week and they sang I Put a Spell on You. Wow! It sounded so great! Perfection!!

A post about this song would not be complete without hearing Screamin' Jay Hawkins sing it. I tried to find the video of the performance I saw the first time I heard it but it was nowhere to be found. He came out of a coffin! It's completely crazy! He was always very theatrical in his performances...as you can see from the performance I could find.
It is so strange how often I have been coming across songs by Nina Simone lately. She has a version of this song, too!
