Mosaic Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day!!!  I hope all the moms are having a wonderful day.  My mom had to work on Mother's Day! Such a bummer!!!  I'm taking her out to eat next weekend. 

I wanted to do something special for my gift so I decided that my first mosaic project would be for her.  The plan was to make a plant stand with a matching flower pot.  It's been so crazy lately and I needed my dad's help to get started on this one so I was only able to finish the stand for today.  I will work on the flower pot next weekend.  Luckily my mom is very understanding.  :-)

Here's the plant stand at the end of day one.

Here's Bo taking over my photo shoot.  Isn't he cute??  He's my mom's dog.

He wanted to be part of the Mother's Day celebration, too, I guess.  :-)

And here's the finished product!  I was going to use white grout
but my dad thought the grey would be better since I used white tiles. 

I think he was right.

The pictures are kind of terrible.  It's all gloomy and rainy today.

I will make sure to take some better pictures when I post the flower pot.

I think it turned out pretty good for my first try.  There are some spots that aren't perfect, but that's okay. 

I tried to keep the design simple for the first one.  I'm excited to try some more mosaic projects now that I know what to do.  Eventually I want to get good enough to make a table.

I will post pictures of the flower pot as soon as I finish.
