The Winner Is...

Dessert wins and so does Susan!  You guys voted Love Bites as the winning name for the mini cookie plushies with five votes!  Congratulations Susan!

Susan works with my mom so I was able to find out what color cookie she wanted and give it to my mom to deliver today!

The blue Love Bite found a new home (and a new friend) on Susan's desk!

Thank you to everyone who participated in the contest.  I think I will have to do this again soon.  I really had fun seeing all of your great name ideas.  I wish I could use them all.  I might have to make some different flavored cookies so I can!

The Love Bites will be available at Dreaming in Craft very soon so check back...often!  ;-)

Have a great day!

Music Monday

I think I posted this song in a Music Monday post before but I heard it this morning while I was getting ready for work and it put me in a great mood.  I thought I would  share the good mood with you so we can all try to avoid the Mondays!  :-)

Dreaming in Craft

Dreaming in Craft is open for business!

Most of you probably already know this because we are friends on facebook or twitter and I am terrible at keeping these kind of things a secret.  Over the past few weeks I have been at three different markets selling my crafts and I have also been working on my Etsy shop!

Dreaming in Craft

I was beginning to think this would never happen.  After months of working like crazy on my projects for markets and Etsy and not sleeping it's finally open!  Right now you can find my button jewelry, hair accessories and some of my plushies in the shop.  I will be adding more items for the next few weeks.  After that I'll add as I make new things.

I hope to get back into a regular blogging schedule now.  I have had to neglect it a little since all of my time has been consumed by this.  I miss blogging!  I really do love it.  I need to get caught up on all of my favorite blog reading, too!  I miss you guys!  Thanks for sticking around while I have been a terrible blog friend.  :-)

Dreaming in Craft has a facebook page so be sure to head over there and "like" it to keep up with shop news and upcoming markets.

You can also keep up with news by following me on Twitter.  My name is @immarci.  I'm still trying to decide if it's worth it to have a separate business twitter.  Any thoughts?

Okay, that's all for now!  Have a wonderful Sunday!

Oh!  don't forget to vote for the winner of my plushie contest!  Voting ends tomorrow at 7:00 pm Texas Time!  I will announce the winner on Tuesday!

The Name Game

I made a new mini plushie this weekend to take with me to the 78704 market.  I loved it so much I made another one!

Meet the fun size cookies!

I like to try to make a mini version of my regular size plushies when I can so after I made Sweetie and Amos I decided it was time to make some mini cookies!  I drew out a simple cookie pattern and got to work.  I used felt for the cookie, frosting and eyes.  The rest of the eyes are tiny, plastic plushie eyes.  I stitched beads on for sprinkles and embroidered the little smile.  I used my favorite blanket stitch to close it up.  I am so happy with these little cuties!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The problem came when I started writing my blog to show them to you.  I couldn't think of a name for this plushie!  It has to have a name!  I posted on Twitter that I couldn't think of anything and Maggie from Assorted Musings had a great idea!  Have a contest to name the plushie!
So, here we go!  Please help me name my new plushie design.  I only need one name for the design.  I don't want to name each individual color.
Here's how it's going to work...
1.  Leave a comment on this post with your name idea. (If you comment annonymously, be sure to put your name in the comment so I can give you credit.)
2.  Tell all your friends!!  :-)
3.  I will leave comments open until Thursday of this week.
4.  If anyone posts names, the list will be posted and opened up to your votes from Friday through Monday.
5.  The official name will be announced on Tuesday!
6.  If your name idea is picked you win a fun size cookie plushie!  You can pick between the light blue and purple cookie and I will mail it to you next week!
Okay, start naming!
Thanks!
It's Not Easy Being Green
I totally forgot today is St. Patrick's day!  I've been so busy lately that all the days seem to run together.  I never know what day it is!
I remembered at the last minute before I got dressed for the day so I am wearing a green shirt.  If you're like me and you forgot, consider this your reminder.  Go put on something green before anyone sees you!  :-)
Looks like Wall-E will let you borrow his clover if you need it.
Happy St. Patrick's Day!
This Just In...
A Knitted Wonderland is staying up for an extra week!  We were supposed to take down our trees this Friday but we now have permission to leave them up for one more week.  We will take the tree cozies down on 3/25 so if you live in the Austin area hurry up and go!  You will be so happy you did.  :-)
Naugies
Have you ever heard of Nauga Dolls or Naugies?  I hadn't until the other day when a friend told me about them.  She said that my monsters remind her of them.  Hehe!  I haven't really been able to find any information about their origin so if anyone has any information please share.  I need to know!  ;-)
The faces are so perfect!  This makes me want to play around a little more with different eye and mouth shapes.  I love finding new inspiration!
They sell furniture, too??  Huh??
I need to know where these creatures come from.  Can you help me solve this mystery??  ;-)
A Knitted Wonderland
Yesterday I finally had a little time to go see A Knitted Wonderland all finished in the day time.  It was so beautiful!  If you live in the Austin area you should definitely make some time this week to see it in person while it's still up.
This is what you see when you walk up to The Blanton Museum.
This is my group's tree!  :-)
Some people got really creative!
I really loved this one.  The design is simple but the details made it so special.  :-)
Don't they look amazing all together??
Famous Amos
Do you remember a couple of weeks ago when I introduced you to Sweetie the Cookie Monster?  Well, I'm back with another cookie monster to share.  This time it's a chocolate chip cookie monster!
Meet Amos!!
Name:  Amos
Date of Birth:  3/5/2011
Favorite Color: Chocolate Brown
Favorite Song: REM - Furry Happy Monsters
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This is the story of Amos...

I wanted to make another cookie monster so I decided to make one of my favorite cookies....chocolate chip!!  I used the same tan felt I used for Sweetie and just added some tiny brown buttons for the chocolate chips.  I made him a little flatter than Sweetie because people thought she was a donut.  I prefer it fluffier though, so I will probably make them more stuffed from now on.  If people like it to be a donut that's fine. ;-)

I will be taking both cookie monster plushies with me to my craft show this weekend in Austin.  I'm sharing a booth with Bridget from Love Peace Family on South Congress at Gibson Street.  If you're in the neighborhood stop by and say hi!  :-)

First Thursday

It's finally time to tell you about my first craft market!  I didn't get to walk around at all so I only got to take a few pictures of my table this time.  Hopefully I'll have a little more time to check out other booths on Saturday.  I just took these pictures really quick while no one was at the booth so they aren't great.

I woke up Thursday and my internet decided to be nice to me!  So, I started the day with a little blogging.

My table (My friend Maja had some of her stuff there, too)
I ran out of space so I couldn't put all of my items out this time.  I need to get a second table!

My rings look great in this display!  This one belongs to my friend Renée.  I wasn't able to get one in time because the store I tried to get it from was sold out.  I ended up ordering one online this weekend because they were still out when I went back on Saturday.  The seller assured me that it would be here by the middle of the week.  I'm a little worried because I don't have a back up plan.  Any suggestions for how to display my rings if it doesn't come in time?

I love the way my necklaces look on this cute necklace tree!

My ponytail holders and clips look so great with my new product cards!  This made me so happy!  I had to improvise on the price cards a little.  I had originally planned to sell them as pairs but ended up selling them individually.  I think it was a wise decision.  People really liked them.
I had all the clips and ponytail holders looking so nice and facing the same way but the wind kept blowing them around.  They were all even and pretty once I got smart and double stick taped them to the table.  :-)  I just got too busy to re-photograph them.

I ran out of time to make more cell phone cases, but I went ahead and put the one I had out.  It didn't sell but people complimented it a lot.  I might try some different designs and see how it goes.

I'm still not sure if I'm going to continue to sell the postcards.  I like them and I actually sold one of the live music postcards, but they don't really go with the look of my other products.  Any thoughts?

Last but not least...the plushies!!!  I was very surprised at how well these sold!  I'm scrambling to make a few to replace the ones I sold before Saturday!  Everyone thought the cookie monster was a doughnut.  It was pretty funny.  I might have to make a doughnut now!  ;-)
This picture was taken after all of the mini plushies were sold so I actually had a couple more in there at the beginning of the day.
I guess that's it.  I think my first time out there was a huge success and I can't wait to try it again on Saturday.  Even if I don't do well at all of them it's really fun and I'm so happy that I can finally share my work with other people!  I think that's what crafting is all about!  :-)

365 Project - Week Forty-Four

Hello, Friends!!!  I'm back!  I think I finally have working internet that is here to stay!  So, now it's time to play major catch up on the blog.   It has been a crazy crafty week for me.  Let's start off with week forty-four of my 365 project this morning.  Hopefully I'll be back later today with a little recap from Thursday.  :-)

Day 302
We went to see Blue Man Group on Saturday.  This was my favorite part.  I had to go home and sleep for a couple hours after the show.  I think all the crazy lights gave me a migraine.  It was still pretty cool.  :-)

Day 303
I only had time to take pictures of Stormy on Sunday so he is part of my 365 project now! I think he's pretty cute!  :-)

Day 304
Every time I walk over to Raby's Roots in Buda to take pictures I find something completely new!  Look at this awesome chandelier!

Day 305
I almost forgot to take a picture so I ended up taking a picture of the plushies I took to First Thursday.  :-)

Day 306
It's just another pretty sunset.  I like how the colors are layered so perfectly in this picture.

Day 307
It's my first craft booth!  My friend Maja shared a table with me so her stuff is on the left and mine is on the right.  I wasn't able to put all of my projects out because of limited space.  Hopefully next time I'll be able to set out more items.  I had a great time!  :-)

Day 308
This is my group's tree for the Knitted Wonderland project at the Blanton Museum in Austin.  I think it turned out great!  It was dark when we finished so I have to go back to take more pictures next weekend.  I can't wait to see the finished installation.

Let the Wild Rumpus Start

So...I am still without working internet at my house most of the time...but not today!!!  It's working today!  Hopefullly it will be up and running permenantly by Saturday.

I have so many amazing things happening in the next few weeks that I want to share with you!

  1. First Thursday is TODAY!!! It's my first market!!! I'm so excited...and nervous...but mostly excited!
  2. I have been working on more plushies!
  3. I still have my little craft experiment to finish
  4. I'm going to start working on ideas to submit to Art-o-Mat soon.  Hopefully I'll have something ready to send in April.
  5. I'm still trying to get my Etsy up and running (I'm so close...waiting for the internet to be back and I'll start listing what I have photographed so far.).
  6. Friday is installation day for the Knitted Wonderland project.  It is going to be so pretty!
  7. Next Saturday is my second market.  This one is with Bridget from Love Peace Family and I am so looking forward to spending time with her.  :-)

Wow!  That's a lot of stuff.  I'm sure I'm forgetting things, too!

I just wanted to stop by real quick while I have internet that isn't on my phone and let you know that I may be gone for a few days.  It's going to be so hectic that I don't even think I'll have time to blog before Saturday even if I have internet.  But, don't worry.  I'll take lots of pictures and when I get back I'll have so many fun stories to tell.
